In this post, I would like to take you through the journey that I have taken, along with my Extentia family that has grown from almost the size of a nuclear family to a clan of 600+ Extentians since 1998. <\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-2hi20\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">Be it working on projects for clients in varied geographies or getting exposure to new technology and platforms, one thing each Extentian is assured of is growth \u2013 that is both professional and personal. Constantly buzzing with events and activities \u2013 workshops, hackathons, quizzes, cultural events, sports tournaments, upskilling sessions, annual company-wide events, social outreach programs, thought-leadership gatherings \u2013 we know how to work hard and party harder! My backbone, my leadership team, is a group of experienced and passionate leaders from the industry who have been at the forefront of the digital revolution for the last two decades. Yes, you read it right \u2013 houses, like we used to have at school! Each Extentian is assigned to one of the six houses and these houses then compete in the mighty Extentia Premier League or XPL \u2013 our year-long inter-house competition (FUN!). These competitions encompass sports tournaments, a showcase of creativity and art, a quiz, and a final stage performance at our annual company-wide party.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-87a1b\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\"><a class=\"TWoY9 itht3\" href=\"https:\/\/x24.extentia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer noopener\" data-hook=\"linkViewer\"><strong><u class=\"D-jZk\">X24 Hackathon<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-aeuir\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">As you can tell by the name, X24 is our annual build marathon where teams create workable solutions from concept to pitch within 24 hours. Now, it might sound like just another hackathon to you, but, for me, and for my family, it\u2019s \u2018that time of the year\u2019 \u2013 we love the maddening hustle and everything about X24 \u2013 from preparations to the final pitch.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-eqe95\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\"><a class=\"TWoY9 itht3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.extentia.com\/life-at-extentia\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer noopener\" data-hook=\"linkViewer\"><strong><u class=\"D-jZk\">Friday Reboots<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-7qvcq\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">TGIF, one of the many expressions that I live by. A very helpful admin manager came up and asked us if the arrangements \u2013 projector, screen, scoreboard, and audio were up to our requirements. They totally were.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-1shq2\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">The quiz went well with a decent and curious (what a different format from school) audience. From the sheer competition, I could see what was to come if we took this up long term.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-9ctuh\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">Now, I suddenly saw familiar faces! Yes, this was KP in Pune, but still\u2026<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-mbsq\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">The CEO, who looked like a senior from my school \u2013 Bishop\u2019s (he totally was) asked what I did. I told him I headed marketing for a mobile internet company in the US.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-4hivf\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">\u2018Then you should talk to us!\u2019, offering his card. I smiled for I was eager to be back in Pune anyway, and this opportunity was worth exploring.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-66fq\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">I got an offer on the spot in the following week, with no interview. BCQC was contracted to send me sets of questions initially. I\u2019d then refine\/curate the decks to my standard, add pictures, refine grammar and wording which took a lot of work. I\u2019d also replace what I thought were tough questions. Sometimes I\u2019d add verbal clues, for I wanted all questions answered.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-cqm2k\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\"><strong>How had quizzing changed since the &#8216;Manoramic\u2019 era over two decades ago?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">The Manorama Yearbook or similar \u2018quiz\u2019 books were full of \u2018what is the tallest, deepest, capital of, who is the president of, largest animal, who said this quote (some geezer from the 19th century). Either you knew the answer or you didn\u2019t, and passing meant guesswork and an advantage to the teams the questions passed to. <\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-9ujka\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">\u2018Largest ocean?\u2019 Eventually, after Indian, Atlantic\u2026someone would get Pacific.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-bgl5h\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-28843 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/web.kalpakprojects.com\/Extentia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/16fa7f_4685c697cc5849429ea9405a24525b62mv2.jpg\" alt=\"Quizzing \u2013 That Grand Extentia Tradition\" width=\"226\" height=\"189\" \/>Where was the value in this? Just go read that book at home, and become a meaningless general knowledge specialist. Quizzing is NOT GK! Anymore.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-31v4s\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">We explained the \u2018workable\u2019 questions format, where there would be interesting clues to an answer. Nearly all of the participating Extentia teams would know if they saw a pattern, and a trick statement or so. \u2018Infinite bounce\u2019 a now commonly used fair passing format was explained until they all got the point. Quizzes would start close to 1:30p and end sharp at 2:30. Vcat). Then on, from 2011, I became the permanent host. The quorum was always achieved, with some of the company\u2019s senior management always in attendance, and many regulars. I\u2019d be ready 15 minutes earlier after set up with able help from IT for the usual projector and audio glitches. Complaints about scores not being added quickly to the board. You\u2019d think they were competing for diamond pendants and unobtanium or vibranium! We did hand out bookshop vouchers or chocolates for winners for the first 3 years. A mic and speaker for audio\/video were soon needed (to be heard over the pandemonium).<\/p><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-28837 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/web.kalpakprojects.com\/Extentia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/16fa7f_6d6e42113c724c7ab7c500c9004bd582mv2.jpg\" alt=\"Quizzing \u2013 That Grand Extentia Tradition\" width=\"222\" height=\"126\" \/><\/p><p>The quizzing standard almost reached BCQC entry levels, for questions were easily nailed over the years. These annual quizzes usually held on July 4, had to be hosted by an organizing Extentia house. As a result, we had some quizzes of a dubious standard for they weren\u2019t actual quizzers who hadn\u2019t gotten the point of workability. I used to run practice sessions for later organizers \u2013 sample questions, tone, humor, running infinite bounce correctly, and having safety (blank middle slides) slides lest the answer shows up at the touch of a key.<\/span><\/p><div data-hook=\"rcv-block45\"><p id=\"viewer-6iigc\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">A known external consultant guided the organizers and helped set questions. The standard of the XPL quiz was vastly improved. I still held training sessions with sample questions.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-5om3v\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">At the XPL, I HAD to participate for my house team every year \u2013 the members made no bones about it. Anyways, our team won the most trophies at XPL through the present year.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-2hp70\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">The monthly quizzes continued and became the longest-running consistent \u2018Friday Reboot\u2019 at Extentia. Several alternate quiz setters were more than happy to establish their brand in the corporate world. Clients that visited Extentia were invited to participate. Our efficient IT department ensured everything went off without a glitch on Teams, luckily the messaging software was installed just before the lockdown. Temporary WhatsApp groups for teams to discuss and pounce were set up.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-9itn0\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\"><strong><em>The Friday online quiz has been going on uninterrupted for six months now, and it\u2019s the 11th season at Extentia overall.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p><p id=\"viewer-835r0\" class=\"xVISr Y9Dpf bCMSCT OZy-3 lnyWN yMZv8w bCMSCT public-DraftStyleDefault-block-depth0 fixed-tab-size public-DraftStyleDefault-text-ltr\"><span class=\"B2EFF public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\">Other companies have shown interest in replicating this \u2013 online and at locations. They had heard about it from BCQC and some Extentians.
